The Shrapnel Wedding

*Long post ahead*

Went to a wedding on Saturday - my very first White wedding. Mostly due to the fact that my cousins half auzzie & his bride to be is fully auzzie. Been to 3 chinese weddings in my life & let me just say that a White wedding is so different compared to chinese weddings.

It was a church wedding at Ashburton (its somewhere in the suburbs, my other cousin did the driving so i just stonned till we got there). It was a nice ceremony with no frills. There was sandwhiches & cakes after the ceremony - there was this chocolate cookie thing with a thick layer of chocolate which was sooooo good! Then there was photo taking of the bridal party & everyone at the wedding. Since my cousin is like half chinese, there was even a tea ceremony at the church in one of the small rooms. It was so cute seeing the couple serving tea to my grandma, not really knowing what to do. The good thing (well not entirely) was that i got an angpow from the couple - chinese tradition of introducing the other half & thus the younger kids get angpows! Heck, we seem to get angpows for everything - another reason y i dont wanna grow old!

My cousins and i hung around the church coz it would be stupid to drive back to the city only to drive to the dinner venue. We took random shots - who knew camwhoring was a family trait ?!? Pictures are all still with my cousins but just let me say that observing them its not hard to see that we're all related. So after an hour of taking random pics, singing to the piano & talking crap, we realised there was a pool table in the next room! We were literally kicking ourselves for being typical asians n not venturing to see what was beyong our comfort zone. Anyways we did play for a bit before heading to the country club for the dinner!

Got there earlier than expected even tho we got kinda lost for about 10 minutes - Blame it on HIGH STREET & HIGH STREET ROAD! Why call a street a road if its already a road? Must be some auzzie thing i suppose.

So anyways we got there early and it was just a few relatives around. Thus it was decided to go out wandering in the golf course n take random photos!

I only have a few, well actually make that 3 from the golf course, taken from my trusty phone (YAY CAMERA PHONE!)

Yes, we are crawling out of a sand bunk. This scene reminds me slightly of 'The Hills have Eyes'

The others got jealous & thus this squashed up photo of us all together

We headed back to the main hall just in time for pre-drinks. The weird thing was that the room reminded me of Trinity - it had green carpets & wooden planks of achievements by members. Photo of the said to be put up once i get them from my cousin.

The dinner itself was great! Three course meal plus 2 bottles of wine ( white + red) on each table. It was just 6 of us to an 8 person table - thus we had 'the cousins' table!

I dont quite know what happened to the photo of me & Andrew. Tsk!

Anyways back to the wine. We had two bottles & 2 drivers at the table. Thus, i made it my responsibility to not waste Jason's & Leanne's money & consume the wine. Happy happy joy joy! I practically had a bottle and a half to myself. Both driving cousins were giving me the evil eye - the wonders of not having to drive :)

The speaches made were really good & witty - something that i never had experienced. OH! And you know how in chinese wedding dinners esp in Msia where it never starts on time ? Well this wedding DID! Amazing u say! I think so too. The other thing was that the bridal party (the couple, best mans & bride maids ) had a whole table to themselves. The parents sat on different tables with their own company. I guess its quite logical coz u wanna enjoy ur own wedding. Im not saying that having parents around arent fun, i guess u kinda have more fun with ur own friends around, esp on ur wedding dinner nite!

Woah! This is a pretty long post - by my standards anyways. Thats enough for now. Back to my Gilmore Girls marathon! :)
